High-Abuse Institutional Plumbing Brass & Genuine OEM Repair Cartridges

Campus facilities teams at K-12 schools, universities, hospitals, and municipal stadiums manage thousands of commercial flushometers, shower valves, bottle-filling stations, and commercial kitchen pre-rinse assemblies. Using generic off-brand diaphragms or non-chloramine-resistant elastomers leads to run-on flush valves, scald hazards, and constant maintenance callbacks.

Located in Lowell, Frank P. McCartin Co., Inc. stocks genuine Sloan, Zurn, Symmons (made in Braintree, MA), Leonard, T&S Brass, Speakman, and Halsey Taylor valves and factory rebuild kits—available for immediate walk-in pickup under COMMBUYS FAC124 (#201354) and MHEC Contract G14 (#374).

Counter Checklist for Flushometer, Mixing Valve & Faucet Repairs

  • For Flushometers: Check the GPF (Gallons Per Flush) stamped on the diaphragm retainer or bowl throat—putting a 3.5 GPF kit into a 1.6 GPF bowl causes rim overflow, while putting a 1.28 GPF kit into an older 3.5 GPF bowl leaves waste in the trapway.
  • For Symmons Temptrol repairs: Always pick up the TA-4 hot/cold renewable seat kit and the special Symmons seat removal wrench alongside the TA-10 spindle—a new spindle against a wire-drawn seat will still drip!
  • For T&S and Chicago Faucet repairs: Note whether the handles turn counter-clockwise or clockwise to open, and bring the pulled stem to match spline count and bonnet thread.
Frequently Asked Engineering Questions

Counter Q&A: Sloan, Zurn, Symmons, Speakman & Commercial Fixtures

Why does a repaired Symmons Temptrol shower valve still drip from the showerhead when turned off?

Replacing only the TA-10 spindle fixes pressure-balancing issues, but a constant drip when the valve is shut off is caused by erosion on the internal brass hot and cold seats inside the valve body. Removing and replacing the TA-4 hot and cold seats with a Symmons seat tool resolves the drip completely.

Are Zurn AquaVantage diaphragm repair kits cross-compatible with Sloan Royal flushometer bodies?

Yes. Zurn's chemical-resistant TPE AquaVantage rebuild kits (P6000-ECA series) and Sloan's PERMEX® Royal rebuild kits (A-1101-A series) share identical body thread and barrel dimensions, allowing seamless cross-compatibility in standard diaphragm flushometer bodies.

What does Massachusetts plumbing code require for emergency eyewash water temperature?

Under 248 CMR 10.00 and ANSI/ISEA Z358.1, emergency eyewashes and drench showers must deliver tepid potable water between 60°F and 100°F through an ASSE 1071 listed emergency thermostatic mixing valve that features a built-in cold-water bypass in the event of hot-water supply failure.
